With school closures entering the third week, Hillcrest Academy is attempting to combat the prolonged break with digital educational solutions. The school announced their distance learning program, which will incorporate aspects of academics, social and emotional well-being, faith formation, and physical and outdoor education. The program is set up like a normal school day, with Wednesdays acting as a prep day for teachers and an off day for students. Classes will begin via Zoom video conference at 10 a.m. and go until 3 p.m. each day with a break incorporated within the day. Odd class periods will happen on Mondays and Thursdays, and even class periods will take place on Tuesdays and Fridays. The school also announced a social media campaign to unite everyone within the Hillcrest community. The hashtag #HillcrestUnited was created for teachers, staff, students, and alumni to share their experiences on how they are staying connected during these times. The school’s building and campus will remain closed until April 12th.
