Influenza activity in Iowa is continuing to decrease according to the Iowa Department of Public Health. So far this flu season, Iowa has had 95 deaths associated with influenza, including the death of one child. Seven of those deaths happened in the last week. Also, five people were hospitalized for influenza in the last week including one child under four-years old, one adult between the ages of 50 and 64 years old, and three people over 64 years old. The IDPH encourages people to get an influenza vaccine annually.
