Friday brought some devastating news to student athletes in southeast Iowa as Governor Kim Reynolds suspended school for the rest of the academic year, including spring sports. In a show of solidarity for student athletes the Iowa High School Athletic Directors Association asked schools around the state to light up their spring sports athletic venues from 8-8:20p.m. one minute for each day of school missed by students during the COVID-19 pandemic. To show their support for their student athletes, the administration at Hillcrest Academy turned on the soccer pitch lights and scoreboard Friday evening.
