While schools find ways to best serve their students during the COVID-19 outbreak, two area schools pitched in a few supplies for their local healthcare facilities. The Washington County Hospital and Clinics received a trunk full of donated disinfectant wipes from the Mid-Prairie and Lone Tree school districts. Mid-Prairie Superintendent Mark Schneider tells KCII News why they decided to donate some of their supply, “Our activities director heard about the need at the Washington County Hospital. He contacted the administrators and we contacted the custodians. I told them that if we had any disinfectant wipes that we could donate to go ahead and do that. Obviously, there’s still a need for disinfectant wipes, especially in our kitchens because we are still preparing food and we’re still delivering that food. But because of the school buildings being closed for the rest of the school year, obviously we wouldn’t need as much during the school day as we usually would.” WCHC is currently raising funds for the healthcare professionals in Washington County. The Support Our Heroes fundraiser is open to the public to donate on their website wchc.org.
