While health care professionals are out fighting the COVID-19 outbreak, the Washington County Conservation Board invites essential workers to camp at Marr Park and self-isolate. While the campgrounds remain closed to the general public, the board believes that the campgrounds can serve as a location for essential workers to self-isolate away from others. Executive Director Zach Rozmus tells KCII News why this is important, “We just want to make sure that we’re doing our part too, by abiding by all the proclamations and with all the closures. But also keeping in mind too those frontline employees that are sacrificing a lot for their personal lives right now and their families. We are open where we can allow them to use our facilities in a proper manner with social distancing in mind. We can kind of help facilitate this grand machine where we are on the same team. We’re hoping we’re on the back side of COVID-19.”
The campgrounds will be open to individuals who permanently reside in their camper/RV, essential employees who are self-isolating, and Department Of Transportation approved contractors. All campground and playground closures will remain in place for the general public until May 15th due to Governor Kim Reynolds’ extended emergency proclamation.
