Paramedics and EMTs were officially hired at Tuesday’s Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting. The supervisors approved hiring three full-time paramedics and six full-time EMTs. Ambulance Director Jeremy Peck said they will look to hire another 10 or 11 part time employees for the department.

Last week the supervisors approved equipment purchases for the newly created department.

Chairman Jack Seward said the board was not yet ready to talk about the facility lease agreement and the item will be placed on next week’s agenda. The county department will begin serving citizens on July 1st, as the current contract expires at midnight June 30th.
