A Mount Pleasant woman was arrested after assaulting an individual and committing a residential burglary. According to the Mount Pleasant Police Department, 38-year-old Lacey Woodsmall was charged with burglary in the first degree, a class B felony, on Monday for stealing fishing equipment and a six-week-old puppy over the weekend. The Henry County Sheriff’s Office was notified on Tuesday at 3:14 p.m. of a burglary and assault in progress in the 100 block of West Market Street in Rome, Iowa. When Woodsmall was confronted by residents, she assaulted one of them and fled on foot. Authorities located and arrested Woodsmall and transported her to the Henry County Jail. Woodsmall was charged with burglary causing injury, stalking in violation of a protective order, criminal mischief in the second degree, and theft in the second degree. Her bond was listed at $25,000.
