Two individuals were taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics after a car crash in Columbus Junction Monday night. According to the Iowa State Patrol, at 7:55 p.m. 35-year-old Derrick Maynard of Fairfield was making a U-turn on 3rd Street when 29-year-old Megan Reid of Fairfield, struck Maynard’s vehicle with her car. Maynard was driving a 2019 Ford F650 and Reid was driving a 2006 Chevy Cobalt. Louisa County Ambulance, Louisa County Sheriff’s personnel, and the Columbus Junction Fire Department all assisted at the scene. The Iowa State Patrol says a passenger of Maynard’s vehicle, 57-year-old Steven Scotten of Fairfield, was not wearing a seatbelt. Reid and Scotten were transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics by Louisa County EMS for treatment of injuries.
