The Columbus Community School District is continuing to craft how their graduation ceremony will be held. While students are finishing up their class work remotely, the school is planning to have as normal of a ceremony as possible in June. Senior class sponsor and high school business and math teacher Lori Beenen says the current plan is to hold their graduation ceremony on the football field on June 28th at 6 p.m. The school is working to create a contingency plan in the event of bad weather, as well as a potential parade around Columbus Junction to celebrate their seniors. Beenen told the school board at their meeting Tuesday that plans for social distancing in the audience, limited attendance to family members only, and livestreaming the ceremony are being discussed with the graduation committee. More details on the ceremony will be released at a later date as plans are finalized.
