In the last week, Iowa has seen over 100 people die from COVID-19. As of Friday at 11 a.m., in total 520 Iowans have died from COVID-19 and the state has had 18,791 confirmed cases. Iowa has a recovery rate of 56%. Over the last three days, Washington County has not added any new cases or deaths and has 185 total cases and eight deaths, with 149 people recovered. Louisa County has had 10 deaths and 341 confirmed cases, Johnson County has had 608 cases and eight deaths, Henry County has had 67 cases and one death, Iowa County has had 34 confirmed cases, Jefferson County has seen 20 cases, and Keokuk County has 14 cases.

The IDPH is encouraging people to continue good practices to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Mark Beatty, a local funeral director, is volunteering in the COVID-19 morgue in Washington, D.C., and asks people to help do their part to prevent the spread of the virus, “My idea would be to wear masks, social distance, and think of others when you go out and about.” IDPH also urges people to continue social distancing of six feet, wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, and clean high traffic touched surfaces.

Governor Kim Reynolds announced on Friday that she will be transitioning from daily press conferences regarding COVID-19 to holding them each Tuesday and Thursday at 11 a.m. beginning next Tuesday.
