The Sigourney City Council is searching for a new police chief. Current Police Chief Aaron Kephart resigned from the position after being appointed as a Sheriff’s Deputy for Keokuk County on May 18th. Kephart has been part of the police department since 2010 and its chief since 2018. Sigourney Mayor Doug Glandon tells KCII News the city council will bring this item to attention to approve expenses of advertising at the next city council meeting. The current search is open to qualified individuals. Glandon says the department has adjusted their hours to account for the empty police chief position.
