The WACO Community School District will celebrate and honor their seniors under the lights of the football field and with fireworks overhead. While the COVID-19 pandemic has pushed the graduation date to June 20, school officials worked closely with the Henry County Health Department to devise a socially distant graduation ceremony. WACO seniors will have a total of four tickets to give to immediate family members who can be present at the ceremony. The school will keep seniors six feet apart to comply with COVID-19-related guidelines set forth by the Iowa Department of Public Health. Family members will also have specific seating on the field and are to bring their own chairs. Mask and personal protective equipment use is encouraged. This event will not be open to the public, only seniors and their four immediate family members. The ceremony is set to kick off at 8:30 p.m. in order to have a 10-minute firework show after the ceremony to celebrate their seniors one last time.
