One in 16 Iowans have now been tested for COVID-19 and of those there have been 22,177 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in the state. That equates to just over 11% of the people tested are positive for the upper respiratory virus.

Washington County has had 201 residents test positive for the virus and 1,757 have been tested. Washington County has seen nine residents die from COVID-19.

Of the 622 deaths in the state, 41% have been people 61-80 years old and 47% have been people over the age of 80.

The Iowa Department of Public Health is encouraging people to continue safe practices to prevent the spread of COVID-19. People should wash their hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, wear a mask in public, and maintain six feet of social distance.
