sigourney-3

When the Sigourney baseball team hits the diamond for the first time next week they will look to pick up right where they left off a season ago.

The Savages finished second in the South Iowa Cedar League standings last summer with a 12-4 conference mark and 15-10 overall. They lost four players to graduation, but return their top two sluggers in Josh Mohr and Payton Schauf after posting matching .315 batting averages last year. Schauf knocked in 26 runs and Mohr was a tough out with a .515 on base percentage. Cade Streigle, Brock Halleran, and Cade Molyneux are all back and each had a plus .275 batting average. Three of four starters return on the mound including Bo Schmidt and his 2.65 ERA in 39 innings of work. Mohr and Schauf combined for 63 innings and had 3.19 and 4.77 ERAs, respectively.

The season gets underway Monday when the Savages host HLV.
