A woman was arrested after trying to steal an 82-year-old’s purse in Mt. Pleasant. According to the Mt. Pleasant Police Department, on Wednesday officers responded to Wal-Mart in Mt. Pleasant for a reported fight in the parking lot. It was determined that Sherry Foster of East Moline, Illinois had stolen a purse from an 82-year-old victim in the bathroom. Foster was then chased through the store by witnesses. Foster left in a vehicle that was eventually located near the Henry/Washington County line.

Foster was taken into custody and taken to the Henry County Jail. She was charged with theft in the third degree, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug equipment.

The Mt. Pleasant Police Department was assisted by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, the Department of Transportation, and numerous Wal-Mart staff and community members.
