
The latest chapter of the Lone Tree/Hillcrest Academy baseball rivalry had it all Thursday in Lone Tree as the Lions came from behind to stun the Ravens 14-13. In a game heard on KCII, Hillcrest threatened to run away early, scoring seven times on seven hits in the top of the first. The Ravens would add two more in the third to build a 9-0 lead. Lone Tree broke through with two runs in the third, only to see the Ravens score three more in the fourth and one in the fifth to lead 13-2. Facing the prospect of a mercy rule loss, trailing 13-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Lone Tree went crazy. The Lions sent 14 men to the plate in the inning, scoring nine runs to climb back in the game at 13-11. Lone Tree would get one more in the sixth to get within 13-12 before walking off with a win on a throwing error in the bottom of the seventh.
The two teams combined for 27 runs and 23 hits. Harmon Miller recorded the win in relief for Lone Tree, giving up two runs in four innings. He also scored the winning run. Keegan Edwards ended with two hits and two RBI for the Lone Tree attack. Cade Shield and Cale Yoder also had two RBI. London Schrock took the loss for Hillcrest going two plus innings, giving up three hits and two runs. At the plate, Noah Miller, Eli Ours and Schrock all had three hits each. With the loss, Hillcrest falls to 1-3 on the year while Lone Tree improves to 2-2.
