One week into the season and opposing hitters are already tired of facing Madie Anderson, as the Winfield-Mt. Union pitcher tossed her third straight shutout on Thursday in a 2-0 win against Pekin.

The junior threw a one-hit complete game with two walks and struck out 15 Panther batters. Anderson has surrendered just one run in 24 innings of work on the young season giving up seven hits and recording 41 strikeouts. Jobey Malone had two of the Wolves’ five hits and Emma Haines knocked in both runs on a single in the fifth to break a scoreless tie. WMU had a productive first week to move the record to 3-1.

The baseball team fell to the Panthers 15-0 in five innings to drop to 0-4. Both squads get back on the diamond Monday to face Wapello.
