The Wayland West Park Wetlands Projects has seen setbacks, but is still slated to open up later this summer. The COVID-19 outbreak delayed the completion of the restrooms and maintenance building portion of the project. Wayland City Clerk Beverly Conrad says while this has postponed the original May completion date, the city is hopeful the splash pad will be completed before the end of summer. Along with the splash pad, new playground equipment and a half-mile walking trail will be installed. The playground equipment is expected to be installed in August The city has been awarded a $100,000 Wellmark grant to go toward the trail.
