A local agriculture company that works with producers from southeast Iowa to South Africa was visited by Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig this week. Continuum Ag works with farmers to improve their soil health while using the latest technology for soil testing. Naig said the visit highlighted management efforts, “One of the areas of focus for the Department of Agriculture is really on soil conservation, soil health, and water quality. So, it was great to see what’s happening, the innovative work that’s happening with precision agriculture, precision conservation, the work that’s being done on cover crops, and just really some of the exciting things that the team at Continuum are working on right there in southeast Iowa, but also in you know states across the country and even countries around the world.”
Naig added that Washington County has been a progressive leader in the state in water quality initiatives including no-till and cover crop farming.
