The Hillcrest Academy baseball team saw things slip away late in a 5-2 loss to Pekin Thursday in Kalona. The Ravens got on the board with a single run in the second to go up 1-0. Pekin answered with one in the fourth to tie the game at one. The Ravens responded with one more in the fifth and held that 2-1 advantage going to the seventh. Three outs from their second victory of the season, the Ravens couldn’t hold that lead, with Pekin posting four runs in the top of the seventh to snatch the win. Eli Ours and Kobe Borntrager led the Raven offense with two hits each, London Schrock and Aiden Krabill had an RBI each. Drew Blauvelt took the loss going six and a third innings, giving up five hits, five runs, walking six and striking out three. With the loss, the Ravens fell to 1-5.
