A pair of ranked softball teams met up in West Burlington on Wednesday and it was the 13th ranked class 1A team in Winfield-Mt. Union that had the upper hand of a 1-0 pitcher’s duel over class 3A’s 13th ranked Falcons.

It was another day at the office for Madie Anderson, as the WMU junior pitcher tossed a complete game shutout giving up just four hits to a Falcon offense that averages over eight runs a night. She walked two batters and recorded nine strikeouts. West Burlington’s Lauren Summers dealt as well, throwing all seven frames, but surrendered the only run of the ballgame in the fifth when Makiah Lower’s single plated Anna Anderson. The Wolves scattered six knocks from six different players.

WMU turned around and blanked Lone Tree 2-0 last night to move their record to 7-2 overall and 5-2 in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference.
