For the second straight night the Winfield-Mt. Union softball team was edged by one run, as they traveled to Wapello for Southeast Iowa Super Conference play and fell to the Arrows 1-0 in extras.

The Wolves are no stranger to pitcher’s duels and that was the scenario that played out on Wednesday when a scoreless tie was broken up by Wapello with a walkoff in the eighth on an unearned run. Madie Anderson tossed seven plus innings giving up three hits, two walks, and striking out 11. WMU could muster up only three hits including knocks from Carlee Sloan, Jobey Malone, and Anderson.

The Wolves drop to 7-4 overall and 5-3 in the league. They close the regular season tonight hosting Holy Trinity.
