The Hillcrest Academy softball team is on the diamond for their regular season finale Friday when they host Montezuma. Hillcrest comes into the game with an overall record of 0-10 following a 12-2 loss in five innings to No. 2 in class 2A Louisa-Muscatine on Tuesday. For the year, the Ravens are hitting .130 as a team, led by Esther Hughes with a .250 average. She has a team best seven hits with an RBI. Leah Bontrager has done all of the work in the circle this year, tossing 54 innings with a 7.13 ERA.

Montezuma comes into the night with an overall record of 8-8. They are 5-6 in the South Iowa Cedar League. In their last game they lost to English Valleys 10-0 on Wednesday. For the year the Bravettes are hitting .228 as a team led by Jadyn Sharer at .292 with 14 hits, 11 runs scored and seven RBI. In the circle they have a team ERA of 4.09 with Abby Pope posting a 3.50 mark in 14 innings. Kallie Robison has done the majority of the work, throwing 88 innings with a 7-7 record and 4.18 ERA. These two teams met a year ago with the Bravettes taking a 10-2 win. This week, Hillcrest Academy head coach Kent Blossom spoke about what he wants to see from his team in the final contest before the playoffs. “On the surface, looking at their record I would probably compare them to the talent level of a Highland. So if you look at things that way, if we come out and play well tonight it shows the girls they can compete against the Huskies in our first round playoff game next week. It’s a measuring stick and a chance to continue to play and get better.”

You can hear all of the action tonight between Hillcrest Academy and Montezuma live from Kalona on AM 1380, FM 102.5 and KCIIradio.com, beginning with the Washington HyVee pregame show at 6:30 and first pitch at 7p.m.
