It was an emphatic end to the regular season for the Sigourney baseball team winning eight of their final nine contests including a 6-5 senior night victory over North Mahaska on Wednesday.
Plating three runs in the first set the tone for the Savages and they led 6-2 in the seventh when the Warhawks made it interesting, but came up short. Sigourney managed five hits including a 2-for-3 with two RBI night from Levi Crawford. Crawford also tossed 2 1/3 innings on the hill giving up no earned runs on three hits and Josh Mohr threw 4 2/3 giving up two earned tallies on 11 knocks. The Savages closed the regular season 10-5 and they start up district play today at Montezuma.
The Savage softball team could only muster up three hits in a 3-1 defeat to the Warhawks. Carly Goodwin had a double while Megan Stuhr and Kaylee Weber each recorded singles. Madelynn Hornback gave her team a chance with three earned runs in the circle on six hits and striking out eight. Sigourney moved to 13-3 after the game and open regional play Monday against Moravia.
