heat-advisory-2

All of eastern Iowa has been placed under a heat advisory through Saturday evening. The National Weather Service says that temperatures in the low to mid-90s will combine with increasing humidity causing heat index readings up to 105 degrees later today.

Washington County Emergency Management Coordinator Marissa Reisen advises people be careful in such conditions, “If it’s extremely hot out, don’t do anything too strenuous. Make sure you’re wearing light clothing. Put on your sunscreen. And be checking on your family members and any neighbors that you know of that are at risk.” Always remember to check your back seat for children and pets before locking and leaving the vehicle.
