A Wapello man could face up to 25 years in prison after being charged with felony sexual abuse. The Wapello Police Department began investigating reports of sexual abuse of a child with the Iowa Department of Human Services on July 7. After a full investigation, 64-year-old Larry Ward of Wapello was taken into custody on July 17 and was charged with second degree sexual abuse, a class B felony. Ward is being held at the Louisa County Jail on a $25,000 cash only bond. Other related crimes against Ward are being investigated at this time. If convicted on second degree sexual abuse, Ward could face up to 25 years in prison. His preliminary hearing is set for July 28 at 9 a.m.
