An Ottumwa man was sentenced to 10 years in prison after being charged with felony parole and sex offender violations. On June 27, the Wapello Police Department began investigating reports of a suspicious man being around parks and playgrounds in the city of Wapello, as well as complaints of this individual being around children. With help from the Department of Corrections, 27-year-old Dalen Prier of Ottumwa was taken into custody on June 30 and charged with felony parole violations. Prier is being held at the Louisa County Jail on $100,000 bond. Prier plead guilty in 2012 to sexual abuse in the third degree, where he was set to spend 10 years in prison. According to the Department of Corrections, he was released in January and was set to have lifelong parole. In court on Tuesday, Prier’s request for parole was revoked and he was sentenced to serve his original 10 year prison sentence.
