The Wellman City Council is still in search of an individual to fill their open council seat. In May, councilmember Mark Philpot announced he was stepping down from the council effective July 1 in order to be with his parents and sister, who live in Chicago, all of whom have health issues. The Wellman City Council originally wanted to appoint someone to the empty seat in June, but now are looking to do so at the August 3rd meeting. The position is open for community members to apply. Wellman City Hall staff will provide more information on the position to interested candidates.
