Drought conditions continue to worsen in Iowa with 54% of the state now experiencing drought conditions. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, 7.62% of Iowa is in severe drought, almost 30% is in moderate drought, and 54% is abnormally dry. Most of the drought areas are in the western half of Iowa, with the severe drought centered in Guthrie and Greene Counties.
