In the month of July, Washington County had 56 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and two deaths. As of Friday, the total number of cases confirmed in Washington County was 284 with 11 deaths, and 259 people have recovered.

Washington County Public Health Director Danielle Pettit-Majewski encourages people to take steps to protect themselves and their loved ones by preventing the spread of the virus, “You know none of these recommendations have changed. Always the hand hygiene, whether it’s hand washing for 20 seconds with soap and water, or using hand sanitizer when you can’t wash your hands. Wearing a face covering when you are out in public, whether that be a face mask or a face shield, something to cover your face. Maintaining that social distance, that six feet away from others who are not in your household. And also staying home just as much as you can is really going to limit your exposure to the virus.”

Statewide, as of Friday, there have been 44,475 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since March with 865 deaths, and 32,503 people have recovered. The state’s recovery rate is 73%. And 8% of the 5,551 people tested on Thursday were positive for the virus.
