Due to storm damage Kirkwood Community College is delaying the start of the fall term by one week. The official start of the fall semester will be August 31st. This includes the Kirkwood Washington County Regional Center.
The college’s main campus in Cedar Rapids was still without power as of Thursday and had significant damage to buildings and property. Roof damage was recorded at Cedar Hall, The Iowa Equestrian Center, and the Kirkwood Center for Lifelong Learning. The high winds also knocked down more than 100 trees on campus. The delay will also provide students impacted by the storm more time to register for classes.
