Nearly 1,000 Iowans have died from COVID-19 since the last week of March. According to the Iowa Department of Public Health as of Monday there have been 979 COVID-19 deaths in the state. In total there have been 52,631 confirmed cases of the virus and of those 40,700 have recovered, or 77%. Washington County has had 309 cases, 11 deaths, and 278 recovered.

Washington County’s 14-day positive case analysis was 6.7% on Monday. The county with the highest 14-day positive rate in the KCII-listening area on Monday was Henry County at 13.3%. When a county reaches 15%, school districts may request to move classes to online platforms for two weeks.

As of Monday, in the southeast region, there were 63 COVID-19 hospitalized patients and 27 were in intensive care and seven people were on ventilators.
