Nearly all of Iowa is now experiencing drought conditions. According to the Western Regional Climate Center, 6.2% of the state is in extreme drought, 23.4% is in severe drought, 45.5% is in moderate drought, and almost 88% of Iowa is abnormally dry. The extreme drought conditions are in western Iowa.
In southeastern Iowa, conditions aren’t as severe. The northern halves of Washington and Keokuk counties are abnormally dry, along with all of Johnson and Iowa counties. Hot conditions are expected to continue into the start of the week with highs climbing up into the 90’s and there are chances for thunderstorms. Listen to KCII for weather updates.
