COVID-19 antigen testing is available at Washington County Hospital and Clinics. The COVID Wellness test at WCHC is available directly to individuals and does not require a physician order. This nose swab test detects the presence of specific proteins unique to the novel coronavirus and can determine active infections. This test is available for people who are currently symptom free but are concerned about a potential exposure to someone with COVID-19. The test results are available within 48 hours and they will tell people if they are infected with COVID-19.

Results may also be used to help better understand the spread of the virus and identify risk factors for infection. Results will be reported to the Iowa Department of Public Health and people with positive results may be contacted by their local public health department for additional information.

People who would like this service can present to the Washington County Hospital between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and staff at main registration will register patients, collect payment, and direct patients to the lab for testing. The COVID-19 Wellness Test is $85.
