A race that was postponed in April is being held in Washington this weekend with people running a 5k, 10k, or 13.1 miles. The annual Kewash Half Marathon will start at 7 a.m.

Organizer Shawn Loy tells KCII News that about 400 people are signed up for the event, but some of those won’t be running it in Washington, “It’s kind of the new thing this year, a lot of the major races are being cancelled, so people have an option to run it virtually meaning they have to complete the distance, submit their distance to us and then they receive their shirt and the half marathon gets a medal for that. So, you can either do a live race or you can run it virtually if people don’t feel comfortable being in large crowds at this time.” Loy says with the virtual option there will be people from Virginia Beach to Wyoming taking part in the event.

The route starts at Central Park, does a loop to Stewart Elementary, under the railroad underpass, through Sunset Park and on the Kewash Trail nearly to West Chester and back. See the KCII Big Red Radio Saturday along the route in Sunset Park.
