The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk volleyball team begins their 2020 River Valley Conference slate tonight when they travel to Durant. The Golden Hawks have built a perfect 3-0 record so far this year by sweeping Tri-County and English Valleys to claim a share of the Keota tournament championship last week and dispatching the rival Washington Demons in three straight sets on the road Thursday. For the season, Mid-Prairie is led by Tori Boyse with 15 kills. Landry Pacha has 49 assists, best on the team, and Maddie Edgington and Paige Peiffer each have nine digs to lead the Mid-Prairie defense.

This is the season opener for Durant in 2020. The Wildcats were 10-22 a year ago, 3-8 in the River Valley Conference. They will try to replace kills leader Kira Schult who ended last year with 157. Ally Happ, a sophomore was second a season ago with 121. Assists leader Meg Koenig is also gone after a 2019 where finished with 442 helpers. Happ is also the leader returner in that category with just 14. Happ led the Wildcat defense a season ago with 260 digs. The Wildcats swept the Golden Hawks in straight sets last year in Wellman. They have won three straight against the Golden Hawks and 17 of the last 18 matches between the two schools. Action begins tonight at 7:15 at Mid-Prairie High School.
