The Washington and Sigourney cross country teams traveled to Ottumwa on Thursday for a meet at Wildwood Park.
The Demon girls finished fourth out of 10 teams with a final score of 103 points while Pekin won with 28. Grace Voss was the first Demon to cross the finish line in 15th with a time of 24:03. Other top performers included Taylor Bartholomew in 21st (24:27), Hannah Rees 22nd (24:29), and Cloe Telleen 29th (24:49).
The Washington boys placed sixth out of 11 with 157 points and Danville took home the top prize with 29. Micah Rees posted a time of 19:20 to place 23rd and Elijah Morris was right behind in 24th in 19:25. Peyton Snakenberg was 42nd (20:38), Cameron Vongpanya 44th (20:54), and Drew Horak 50th (21:24). While Sigourney did not have anyone on the girls’ side compete, the boys had three runners led by Mason Moore finishing 13th clocking in at 18:48. Levi Dehne placed 81st (24:21) and Trace Bell was 97th (27:19).
Washington will be in Fairfield on Thursday and Sigourney competes at Lagos Acres in Keota on Tuesday.
