The Washington County Conservation Department has received a $25,000 Wellmark matching grant for phase two improvements to the Kewash Nature Trail. Washington County was one of 28 organizations to receive this award. The grant is considered a price matching grant, so the department will have until November to provide the matching funds. Since federal tax dollars are involved in the project due to a DOT grant, the department will work with the Iowa DOT on the bid letting process in March 2021, and looks to start construction on phase two in the summer.
