The halls of Winfield-Mount Union will be decorated as students celebrate this year’s homecoming. This week’s homecoming festivities will feature senior parent night at Tuesday’s volleyball game against Columbus Community, coronation of the homecoming king and queen after the parade at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, and the main event will be the homecoming football game Friday night. Students will get the chance to dress up as a teacher, tourist, and more during their themed dress up days. Pep Club Member Kayla Edwards says this year’s homecoming was a challenge to incorporate COVID-19 guidelines, but she believes the student body will follow them well, “We really had to work around trying to make it so we can involve as many people as possible without going over the limit. So just trying to involve the high school and junior high, but also trying to be safe at the same time. Our assembly is only 9-12 grade, so just high school, and we’re really recommending social distancing and to wear a mask.” This year’s Winfield-Mount Union homecoming court is Jenna Buffington, Emma Haines, Josh Elam, Jami Wilkerson, Farrah Nelson, Molly Miller, Dane Sweezer, Bryce Wade, Chance Malone, and Brody Barton. The W-MU Wolves will take on the Iowa Valley Tigers at Friday night’s homecoming game.
