It’s all KCII-area showdown Friday night when Columbus travels north to meet the rival Highland Huskies in class A district football action. The Wildcats enter play with a 1-2 record after a 57-0 loss at the hands of top ten Lisbon a week ago. For the year, the Wildcats are led by sophomore Jeff Hoback under center at 10 of 17 for 197 yards a pair of scores and a pair of picks. His favorite target is Tucker Bright with five catches for 168 yards and a touchdown. Will Schwab leads the Wildcat ground game with 274 yards and three touchdowns on 41 carries. Bright is also the defensive leader, accounting for 19 tackles on the season. Coby Frost has a fumble recovery for the Wildcats this season.

Highland comes into tonight’s contest in search of their first win on the year. The Huskies were beaten 42-13 by the Wapello Indians a week ago on the road. For the season the Huskies are led by Connor Grinstead under center at 11 of 25 for 101 yards, a pair of touchdowns and one interception. His favorite target is Owen Donovan with four catches. On the ground, Donovan has 38 carries for 235 yards and two touchdowns. Grinstead is the defensive leader with 13 and a half tackles on the year. Donovan and Luke Miller each have an interception, Miller also has a fumble recovery. These two teams last met a season ago with the Huskies taking a 55-6 win. Columbus’ last win in the series was a 28-14 victory in 2017. Action begins tonight at 7p.m. in Riverside.
