Road work on Highway 1 north of Kalona is wrapping up. The road is set to open at 1 p.m. today (9/25). According to the Iowa DOT, work included the replacement of two bridges and construction of two new box culverts. The contractor used an accelerated bridge construction method.
There may continue to be intermittent lane and shoulder closures over the next few weeks. During those times there will be flaggers to assist traffic through the work zones. People are reminded to drive with caution, obey posted speed limits and other signs in the work area, and always wear a seat belt.
