Homecoming week was capped off in a big way on Friday for the Lone Tree football team, as they marched all over GMG with a 52-14 win.

It didn’t take the Lions long to get going, as they jumped out to a 30-0 lead after one and continued to tack on en route to the 38-point victory. Cade Shield completed nine of 15 passes for 130 yards and three touchdowns with two of them to Cade Patterson and one to Alex Viner. Viner tallied three receptions for 52 yards and broke out for 142 rushing yards with three scores. The defense forced three Wolverine turnovers including a Cade Patterson interception. Will Hotz recorded 9.5 tackles on the night.

Head Coach Aaron Bohr tells KCII Sports Viner is a playmaker. “Alex has had a tremendous year. At the beginning of the year we didn’t feature him enough and we knew that had to change. He is one of our most explosive playmakers and we made a concerted effort to get him touches. He was the homecoming king so he had a lot to live up to and he did just that.”

The Lions move to 2-2 and get back to it on Friday at Moravia (0-5).
