A Washington County Youth Extension Educator is providing elementary students at Mid-Prairie with online lessons about agriculture during the COVID-19 pandemic. Diane Rinner is part of the Agriculture in the Classroom in Washington County program that teaches 2nd grade students at Mid-Prairie about the role agriculture plays in their lives through hands-on activities. Rinner recently completed an activity with the students called “A Hungry Iowa Caterpillar,” teaching kids about how crops and animals are grown and raised in Iowa. These online lessons will be done once a month with all second grade students at Mid-Prairie East Elementary.
