Iowa’s drought conditions have continued to lessen in severity according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. From September 22nd to September 29th, Iowa went from 78.25% of the state being abnormally dry, down to 69.43%. For the most recent reporting week, 22.6% of Iowa is in severe drought, 46.9% is in moderate drought, and 69.4% is abnormally dry.
The western half of Washington County is abnormally dry, along with most of Keokuk and Iowa counties. At this time last year, Iowa was not experiencing any drought conditions.
