An Oskaloosa man was arrested after eluding officers and crashing a stolen motorcycle in Salem on Thursday. According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, the Mt. Pleasant Police Department attempted to stop a motorcycle for operating without a registration plate. The motorcycle fled and was last seen traveling southbound near Oakland Mills. A Henry County Sheriff’s deputy later observed the motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed north of Salem. The deputy tried to stop the motorcycle but it again eluded officers. During a short pursuit, the motorcycle driver lost control in Salem and crashed near the intersection of Main and Pioneer. The driver was 25-year-old Tyler Conrad of Oskaloosa. He was arrested.
The motorcycle was stolen out of Webster City. Conrad had an active felony arrest warrant for escape from custody by the Iowa Department of Corrections.
Following the Henry County incident, Conrad was charged with eluding, possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance third or subsequent offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under suspension, and multiple traffic violations.
