Three KCII area teams travel to New London today for volleyball tournament action. Mid-Prairie is 5-7 on the season after going 1-3 last Saturday at the Monticello tournament. The Golden Hawks were scheduled to play River Valley Conference matches this week against Iowa City Regina and Tipton, but those were postponed due to COVID-19 concerns. The Hawks come into action today led by Ella Groenewold with 38 kills. Landry Pacha has a team best 181 assists and Paige Peiffer has 78 digs to lead the Mid-Prairie defense.
Joining Mid-Prairie in New London today will be Highland. The Huskies enter the day with an overall record of 3-10. Last time out they were swept by Columbus in three sets on Thursday. For the year, the Huskies are led by Carson Mellinger with 32 kills. Dani Laughlin has a team best 98 assists and Mackinzie Hora has 88 digs.
Winfield-Mt. Union comes into the day with an overall mark of 16-5. The Wolves swept Hillcrest Academy Thursday in their last match. For the year, WMU is led by Jenna Buffington with 185 kills. Keely Malone has a team best 191 assists and Kyndal Townsley leads the Wolves with 158 digs. Joining those three today in New London are English Valleys, Louisa-Muscatine, Van Buren, West Burlington Notre Dame and the No. 8 ranked homestanding Tigers. Action starts at 9a.m. And continues all day at New London High School.
