A Washington man was arrested Thursday afternoon on new charges and previous warrants following a domestic dispute. At around 2:30 on Thursday, officers responded to 414 E. 2nd Street in Washington for a report of a caller who was trying to leave her home, but her ex-boyfriend had blocked in her vehicle with his, not allowing her to leave. Authorities arrested 27-year-old Santiago Escalante for domestic abuse assault causing bodily harm along with warrants from the Ottumwa Police Department for burglary, domestic abuse assault, failure to appear for arraignment and possession of controlled substance methamphetamine.
He was taken to the Washington County Jail and has since been released from custody.
