A combine caught fire in a corn field south of Wellman Wednesday morning. According to the Washington County Communications Office, at 11:52 a.m., the driver of the combine said the fire engulfed the farming equipment and was afraid the crops were going to catch fire as well. The Wellman Fire Department was dispatched to the 1400 grid of 170th Street. Crews extinguished the fire by 1:04 p.m. No one was injured during the incident. The Wellman Fire Department and Washington County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
