The Riverside City Council is moving forward with plans to create a new community center. The council received an offer from Washington-based construction management company Carl A. Nelson and Company to help design the project. In the $10,000 offer, the company would create and distribute a community survey, create a schematic design, analyze site conditions, and create a cost estimate for the project. The company has worked in a similar capacity on other large projects across Washington County, including the Kalona Community Center’s renovation and addition and the Washington Communications and Emergency Operations Center. The Riverside community center would be erected near the Highland Elementary School. City Administrator Christine Yancey says the council looks to formally consider this offer at their upcoming Monday city council meeting.
