Getting back to their winning ways was the goal for the WACO volleyball team on Monday night and they did just that by sweeping area school Sigourney in a first round class 1A regional match.
The Warriors took control early and never looked back with set scores of 25-13, 25-16, and 25-9. Morgan Graber led the way offensively with 12 kills while Molly McLaughlin and Lona Farrier each had nine. Grace Coble set up the offense with 34 assists, Aubri Garnsey hustled for 21 digs, and Lindsey Roth managed 10 digs.
Head Coach Jay Coble tells KCII Sports his team was ready from the opening serve. “They were really focused tonight and our serving was terrific. Our offense got better as the night went on, but our serving and serve reception was great the entire match.”
WACO improves to 24-7 and they advance to tomorrow’s quarterfinal bout hosting North Mahaska (10-9). The Warhawks swept Twin Cedars in the first round last night. Sigourney concludes their season at 7-17 and they bid farewell to three seniors in Joselyn Abell, Sidney Morse, and Kaylee Weber.
